The Chinese Welfare Association worked with artist Jim Russell . Jim developed a lovely relationship with the group as they investigated the properties of willow sculpting. As the time of year coincided with the Chinese New Year the group developed beautifully vibrant lanterns that went on show at St George’s Market and enjoyed by thousands throughout their New Year celebrations. Jim then worked with the group to produce a large sculptural form using willow for the centre based on nature and mythical figures.
