This is Me - Public Achievement
Young people aged 15-19 from Corpus Christi Youth Club and Black Mountain Action Group worked together in this digital photography project. Coming from traditionally opposing communities the young people were asked to think about their areas; the similarities, the differences and themselves as young people; what would they choose to communicate to a “tourist” or outsider that made a statement about who they were?
The young people guided each other and the artists around their areas looking for poignant or striking aesthetics to capture what they felt made a statement about who they were as individuals, and as a group of young people as a whole. It was really important to create a piece that could be displayed in both centres and reflected the identity of both communities and their coming together and therefore images manifested into a jigsaw format. Through the project the group learnt a range of skills in photography and using photo editing software.
