Cross-Community Fashion Project - 2006
Two groups of young people from Marrowbone and Shankill Young Women's Centre worked together on Trash Fashion’s first large scale cross community project. The groups decided to create outfits on a workwear theme, and produced an original collection which had images of the Belfast landmarks on it and reflected the working class professions that had shaped the city. The groups used a number of different techniques such as fabric painting, heat transfer and appliqué to make jeans, t-shirts and jackets. The project challenged the rivalries between the two groups: young people learnt to interact, work together and have fun with people from a different community.

Hip Hop Fashion (2006)
Young girls from the Reccy Centre worked with a Trash Fashion professional designer to produce outfits for their hip hop dance group. They came up with a very original style for their outfits and crated clothes inspired by a safari theme. The techniques used included cutting, slashing , appliqué, and hand and machine stitching. At the end of this project the girls were very proud of their outfits and delighted to use them in their dance routine practices and dance competitions.
